Do I Need To Blog?
I am an opinionated son-of-a-bitch. Why shouldn’t I blog? It’s just too difficult to share some of these volatile opinions on forums – it would either break the rules, or be met with equally volatile responses and then it would just be a war. Of course, as long as I allow comments to my blog, which I do, there could be battles to be fought here too. But blogs tend to get more readers than respondents. Now I can spout off, write a review, post a how-to article and share my 4 decades of flooring experience here in my very own blog.
So, what do I have that needs this virtual soapbox? Well, anyone who knows me, knows I truly enjoy sharing all sorts of things over the Net. I’ve been a “forumite” for many years, not just in flooring related forums, but also in forums whose focus is on computers, cars, health and, of course, web design and forum management. My years in the floor covering business has given me many experiences – many photographically illustrated – that I enjoy sharing with others. It has also given me insight into this industry that has helped to form my strong opinions.
In addition to all that, this is a great way for me to continue doing what I grew to love after being introduced to coding and graphics not too many years ago. Being retired has given me a lot more time to spend at the computer and I really like helping others figure some of this stuff out, as well as offering to do some of it for them. This page design is one example. I created all the graphics from scratch and modified the PHP and HTML code. I also have blogs at 1 Foot in the Grave and enterpriseJM and a discussion forum at The Floor Pro Community that I designed and contributed a lot of coding and modifications to.
If you have a question or a topic you’d like me to expound on, please let me know. If you’re looking for a discussion though, you’d be better off at a quality flooring related forum – like the one I linked to above. If you’re a fellow flooring professional, you couldn’t find a better community to join than The Floor Pro Community. ‘Course, my opinion on that is kinda biased – it’s my baby. TFP also provides tremendous support to the consumer and Do-It-Yourselfer. If you contact me with a question about flooring that has a definitive answer, I’ll be happy to give it. But if your problem or ideas need more than the answer or opinion I have, then I will be directing you to The Floor Pro Community for the best group of flooring professionals to ever gather in the Ether.
